Gingergread Houses: Smells Like Tradtion To Me!
at Thursday, December 24, 2009
Yesterday I came by my boyfriends house and baked a gingerbread house with my mother-in-law and madrina, Lidia. We both created the gingerbread mix together, then constructed our own houses. Lidia made a very cute gingerbread barn while I decided to create the forever traditional, small, but cute gingerbread cottage! I tried to be creative with my patterned roof of sweet-tarts and various candies around the cottage, while Lidia let me use some Pig shaped gummy candy she was using for her barn. I forgot to bake a door for my cottage, so I improvised with two pieces of Starburst and icing! The "L & L" stands for Lauren (me), and Luis-Enrique (my boyfriend). Creating Gingerbread houses is a tradition that I have been doing with my madrina before every Christmas, and it is something that I look forward to being that I feel like I don't get to spend as much time with her as I like to with my busy schedule. I can't wait until I graduate so that can all change! 'Tis the season to relax, and enjoy one anothers company! I hope you enjoy the heavy post of pictures to follow, and Have a Merry Christmas! *Sylvia of Eye of The Tiger Photography also created a great castle with our mama-in-law, which can be seen here.

Really cute house! I love the star cookie idea! Thanks for the shout out.
I love gingerbread houses! So cute :)
How fun! I remember my junior high classmates getting upset with me because I kept eating all the gingerbread and candy we were supposed to be using for our class gingerbread house. I couldn't resist! LOL!
