Hair Care Series: All about Hair Oils

In this episode of my "Hair Care Series", I talk about different types of hair oils that I use, the benefits of using them, and their prices as well.

The ones I talk about:
-Bio silk Silk Therapy, 12 oz., Farouk Systems, Inc.: I found the price for this online to be around $31.00, but I bet you can find this for a better price if you do your research.
-The Bio Silk "As seen on TV" package with the hair oil, shampoo and conditioner, Farouk Systems, Inc. I bought this on sale for $29.99 but it normally costs $69.99
-Repair and Shine- Hair Toys Texture, 12 oz, Farouk Systems, Inc.: I also found the price of this online to be around $26.50, but again doing better research you might find this for a better price.
-The Avocado Hair Oil- Aceite Aguacate San Jacabo, 2 oz, I found this in the Spanish section of my pharmacy for $2.99

Product Review: Revlon Artifical Nails & False Eyelashes

I received a package from Janet Lai, who is an assistant manager for Revlon at Pacific World Corporation. Among the many Revlon products, Janet is currently promoting their Artificial Nails and False Eyelashes. She was really kind enough to email me and send me a package of these products for me to try out and review. If you’re reading this, thanks again Janet!

This review that I am writing coincides with the following YouTube video. I decided to make a video reviewing these products as well, so you can get a closer look at what I am talking about.

The link for the Revlon Artificial Nails: Here.
The link for the Revlon False Eyelashes: Here.

First let’s go over the products and their names, before I begin the review.

The Artificial Nails:
Sequins (91087)
Stella (91097)
Revlon Red (99030)
The False Eyelashes:
Flirty (91003)
Defining (91001)
Intensifying (91002)

I have already worn the “Sequins” artificial nails, and the “Flirty” false eyelashes. This is what I am basing my review on.

How I reviewed these products:

I wore both “Sequins” artificial nails and the “Flirty” false eyelashes the week of May 23rd, which is my birthday. I rated both the artificial nails and false lashes out of five stars, for certain criteria. I then added up and averaged the number of stars that I gave each criterion to find the overall rating of the product. The criteria I rated the artificial nails on were the following:

  • The Design of the nails,
  • The Price of the nails,
  • The Wearability of the nails,
  • And, The Formula of the Glue.

And, I rated the false lashes on the following criterion:

  • Construction of the Lashes,
  • And, The formula of the Glue.

MY REVIEW AND RATING OF THE ARTIFICIAL NAILS:
Revlon Runway Collection Artificial Nails in “Sequins” (91087), Medium Length, Retail Price $7.99

The Design of the nails:
I absolutely love the design of these nails. I have never seen such intricate design of a French tip before. Going beyond just a simple French tip, Revlon created the design “Sequins”, which features beautiful “hash marks” intertwined with the silver lines. The creativity of this design definitely makes the nails sparkle and pop out more. I would recommend this design for any formal events such as weddings, proms, graduations, etc.

The Price of the nails:

The contents of each artificial nail package:
24 nails in 12 different sizes,
Bond Enhancer Buffer,
0.10 oz (3 g) jar of Maxi-Bond Glue,
Manicure stick.

The amount of nails you receive in the package is a definite plus. The Bond Enhancer Buffer is really strong and assists in buffing nails as preparation for application of the artificial nail.
I love the amount of glue that comes in this package and that fact that it comes in an actual bottle, unlike other companies that give a thin squeeze tube, very similar to the size of crazy glue. The manicure stick is great to assist you in placing the nail onto your nail bed properly, as well as cleaning up any access glue around the nail. The Revlon artificial nails retail at $7.99 which I believe is a great deal for what you are getting. This product is a true “bang for your buck”.

The Wearability of the nails:
“Wearability” pertains to how long the artificial nails stayed on for and the quality of the nails itself. With that said, three of the nails popped off twice while wearing them for less than a week. The nails are actually too thin for my preference and bent somewhat as I applied then, leaving a line of demarcation. After the application of the artificial nails, I noticed there were “air bubbles”, which I believe is a result of the formula of the glue. Another aspect that I believe Revlon should improve upon is the way in which they number their nails. On each nail there is a number at the tip, which is printed to small. I believe if they could increase the size of the number being printed on each nails, this will also help in alleviating issues with applying the nails.

The Formula of the Glue:
As I previously stated, I love the amount of glue that comes in Revlon’s artificial nail sets. Pertaining to the actual formula itself, I believe it could be improved upon. The formula comes out too watery and can dry chunky at times, which is what I believe, cause the “air bubbles”. Overall I believe the formula of the glue wasn’t the right consistency for the nails to stay on properly.

DESIGN: 5 OUT OF 5 STARS
PRICE: 4 OUT OF 5 STARS
WEARABILITY: 3 OUT OF 5 STARS
GLUE: 2 OUT OF 5 STARS
MY OVERALL RATING FOR THE ARTIFICIAL NAILS= 3.5 STARS

I believe this is a fair rating because even though there are areas that Revlon could improve upon with their artificial nails, I still believe that they create good artificial nails. Revlon delivers a quality product in artificial nails at an affordable price.

MY REVIEW AND RATING OF THE FALSE EYELASHES:
Revlon Fantasy Lengths Maximum Wear Glue On False Lashes, in “Flirty” (91003)

The Construction of the Lashes:
Right when removing the lashes from the package, I could tell that these false lashes were not as “stiff” as compared to other false lashes that I have tried. Usually, one would have to repeatedly bend the lash back and forth in order to prepare it for application. While I appreciate a more flexible lash, I believe the spine of the lashes were too flexible. Improving upon the construction and thickness of the lash will make it easier to apply the glue onto the lash. Aside from this, I have to say these lashes are really beautiful looking. They are very natural, and definitely enhanced my eyes and made them look larger, without anyone realizing I had false eyelashes on.

The formula of the Glue:
Pertaining to how adhesive the lash glue is, I have to say that I am really pleased with how strong the formula is and how long my lashes stayed on. I applied the false lashes at 2:00 P.M., and got home around 3:00 A.M. on my birthday, and the lashes stayed adhered on all night. The only thing that Revlon could improve upon is the consistency of the false eyelash glue. It was to watery and started to drip, making it harder to apply the lashes.

CONSTRUCTION OF LASHES: 4 OUT OF 5 STARS
FORMULA OF GLUE: 4 OUT OF 5 STARS
MY OVERALL RATING FOR THE FALSE EYELASHES= 4 STARS

I hope this review was concise and that you consider picking up a pair of Revlon’s artificial nails and false eyelashes at a drugstore near you! A very special “Thank you” to Janet from Revlon, for sending me this great package!
